Blogs

So my teacher told me I could post whatever I want on my blog so I just want to say that I hate these blogs. What happened to just printing off your essay and handing it in. This whole thing is stupid.

Current Connection 2.1

In the article "Woman to give 'obese' children letters, no candy" posted on the website USA Today,  a woman, residing in North Dakota, known all over the nation for her rude act, destroyed many children's Halloween by giving out letters to them telling them they were to fat. This is wrong and should have been taking care of long before.

According to the actual letter, "Your child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season. My hope is that you will step up as a parent and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits." This is immoral and should not be happening. It is a good thing that this women did not do this around here because I know of a couple of parents that would most likely stomp this woman's tail for such cruelty. If it was my kid I would do everything in my power to sue her for bullying.

"It's just that kind of thing that for some kids, if they're vulnerable, might trigger major problems. Even if a child is overweight, they might be very healthy because of what they eat and how they exercise. It's ineffective anyway because it's not likely to help the kid.", says Katie Gordon, a North Dakota State University assistant professor of clinical psychology. This is emotionally damaging to children. The women stated that It is directed towards the parents, but kids can read to. If a lady handed me a letter on Halloween, I would open it and see what it said not just give it to my mom.

Some people think differently than me and Mrs. Gordon on the subject. David Smith, a cardiologist in Doylestown, Pa., says that he thinks the woman is doing a public service! "I think it's a tough-love letter. Eating disorders are a problem but the magnitude of that risk just pales in comparison to obesity. Obesity in the last decade has taken over smoking as the leading health problem we face today. Giving candy to an obese child is like giving a cigarette to a person with emphysema. It is giving a drink to an alcoholic. It is giving heroin to a drug addict." That is not even close to what it is like.  What a terrible comparison! I know of many people who have obesity not because they eat to much, but because they have it in their genes. They can not help being overweight. It is just a curse that is put upon them.

This woman had a choice to make, and she chose wrong. I have no idea what came over this woman to emotionally bully these poor children. Maybe just maybe one day she will get her revenge placed upon her. You know what they say, Karma is a b***h!
